Every winter, American White Pelicans show up around Amelia Island like giant feathery snowbirds, migrating down from breeding areas in the northern U.S. and Canada. They typically arrive in late fall/early winter and stick around into early spring, resting on sandbars and feeding in calm estuaries and lagoons before heading back north to nest.
